Today a non-profit campaign – #showsolidarityOTAs – is being launched to support hotel and holiday homeowners struggling through the during the current economic crisis.
The aim of the hard-hitting campaign is to pressure OTAs to reduce commissions by 50% for one year, to help accommodation businesses recover from the devastating impacts of the current financial crisis.
Accommodation bookings are at a record low. According to Statista, hotel occupancy rates worldwide dropped an average of more than 60% in March 2020 compared to last year. Some country like Italy more then 93%.
With no sign of improvement, it’s vital that the OTAs who made more than US$50 billion in revenue last year, show some financial support to the business they profit from.
